chopped.

before i forget all the details of this i need to post about our easter weekend.  we went up to utah for tara's byu graduation!  one of the nights we were there we had a chopped/iron chef championship.  the fullmers have done this a couple times before but this was cody and i's first time.  i'll be honest, i was super nervous about this for weeks (all the fullmers can cook...like, really good).  but it turned out to be way fun!

entree course secret ingredients:
tri tip steak
turnips
eggplant

we were allowed to use any of the ingredients in laura's pantry and fridge (she's amazing for letting us make a huge mess of her kitchen!)  i don't have a picture of everyone's but here are a few:

zeb
grilled tri tip with eggplant and turnips (and a special dipping sauce)

debbie (i think)
grilled tri tip with fried eggplant and turnip fries

 laura's appetizer
eggplant crostini

laura's main dish
grilled tri tip w/ turnip puree and fried shallots

brittany
seared tri-tip topped with mushroom cream sauce
atop an eggplant, turnip, bacon and potato hash
(cody's dad was judging so i cooked to impress, hence my super raw meat and the copious amounts of butter used in my dish :).

cody
tri tip and eggplant egg rolls atop a sweet shaved turnip salad

 holly
tri tip, strawberry and crusted eggplant salad with cream cheese and herb pinwheels

dessert round secret ingredients:
strawberries
greek yogurt (or champagne cheddar cheese)

*i only have a picture of mine but laura made an amazing chocolate mousse with prosecco-marinated strawberries.

brittany
coconut crusted french toast napoleon w/ layers of strawberry and mango greek yogurt and fresh coconut whipped cream.

it was so much fun tasting everyone's creation.  can't wait to do it again (though i'm sure i'll still get anxiety beforehand!)

and a few more pictures from the weekend...

I don't think I could come up with anything eatable. Did you have time to prepare before? These all look delish!

That looks amazing!! How fun. I guess there are advantages to having a huge, spontaneous, crazy set of in laws! Also Van's curls kill me.
